MGB Rally Car Project

Page updated 20th February 2024

One of our new projects. A MGB for conversion to classic rally car.
Spec will be quite good when sorted.
Photos and information as we progress.

3rd February 2024. Project coming along quite well. All of the bodywork is now done and in primer. Fitted early model GRP wings and front panel to lose a bit of weight, so will look like an early car from the front. Rear Sebring valance on.
A few other bits sorted including light bar, dash and screen. Engine bay painted out and all parts refitted, engine and box in and connected up. Waiting on new larger bore exhaust. All wiring, brakes, suspension etc. sorted.  Brake pipes, fuel line, wiring and battery cable run inside the car. Master switches fitted. Navigation bits in. The full roll cage is now made and test fitted. New adjustable shockers and adjustable up-rated anti-roll bars fitted. Rally seats and belts loose fitted. Nav gear in and wired. Hardtop needs a repaint in black gloss. Car is now in the booth queue for final prep and painting. Going in signal yellow with black top and stripes. Been on with customer cars so has taken a back seat for a few weeks. Got 15" Minilite wheels for it. Has a low miles engine in it, so we'll see how that goes. Have a 2.0 sat in the garage if we get bored with the 1.8 . Checking the regulations regarding limited slip diffs. Seems some series don't allow, so may not fit one?

Car now finished. Behind schedule due to other cars taking priority.
Spec:
built for classic regularity events or Targa rallies.
Full roll cage, bucket seats, four point and standard seat belts fitted. Nav. gear includes Brantz Pro2 trip, digital GPS speedo, clock, stopwatch, footrest, led interior lights. Internal/external electrical kill switch.
Spots wired to main beam, sumpguard, performance exhaust, new brakes, Minilite type 15" wheels fitted, six spare 14" wheels. Adjustable telescopic shockers all round. Performance up-rated front anti-roll bar. Brake, fuel lines and wiring  inside the car. Carpets and curtains remain fitted for the classic regulations. Looking very smart in it's signal yellow with black hardtop.

Photos when we get a bit of time outside.
